How does mental health counseling work?

You will meet with me to address any current (or past) concerns that you’re trying to overcome. Freedom Counseling helps our clients address negative thoughts and feelings that you have endured for far too long. By learning new coping skills you will be able to confidently define and pursue your dreams. “Become Who You Are” is not just the slogan of Freedom Counseling but a true testament to the reality that individuals can live their lives with passion and fulfillment.

What to expect at my first session?

Your first session will be slightly different from all consecutive sessions. I will get to know you, and you will get to know me! During the initial session you’ll familiarize yourself with Freedom Counseling’s policy and practices. We’ll also share expectations of one another. By the end of the first session, you should be clear about next steps. We’ll have a working plan to help you achieve your goals.

How long are the sessions?

The first session generally lasts 60 minutes. All consecutive sessions are between 45-60 minutes although, if you wish to schedule a longer session that can be arranged.

Do you provide online counseling?

Yes, we do! Telehealth is the way of the future, and Freedom Counseling strongly believes in the value of online therapy. At this time, we only offer TeleHealth sessions. Please note that it’s always preferable to be in a comfortable and quiet environment in order to benefit the most from the online session.

Do you accept my insurance?

Payment is an important question for many of our first-time clients. Freedom Counseling is in-network with numerous EAP providers. All coverage is confirmed prior to the first session. Clients are encouraged to email a picture with the front and back of their insurance card, DOB and name of primary cardholder. For self-pay clients, Freedom Counseling accepts all major credit cards, HSA accounts, checks and cash.

Do you work with adolescents?

One of our areas of specialty is working with kids and teens who are undergoing school and family conflicts. Our approach is warm and down to earth, focusing on establishing healthy relationships and improving school performance.
